Raised in Seattle, Washington, Russell Morales took up photography in high school and has carried his camera ever since. In high school and in college he worked as a photographer (stringer) for local newspapers and took on other professional photography work including weddings and commissions, but mostly photography remained an artistic hobby for him over the years. Since shortly after college he began working for the US Government, mostly in the Foreign Service, serving multiple overseas tours. Having lived in Japan for more than 6 years, Russell speaks the language, understands the culture, and finds many of his photographic subjects across the country. Russell's photographic interests include environmental, studio, and maternity portraits, and landscape, nature, abstract and time lapse photography. Currently he lives and works in Tokyo, Japan with his wife and their two boys.
