Madrid is a city that can easily reach 40º C in summer. This project plays with the idea of these extreme weather conditions and the concept of the Heat Wave. The atmosphere created represents the mood, the colors and the light of the seasson. These images are composed with the use of juxtapozing elements; from fruits and vegetables or cacti, to more luxorious pieces of glass and cuttlery mixed with exhausted ceramic birds torn into pieces. In this artwork, the extreme temperature justifies the surrealistic scene; a mold of the artist´s own teeth desperately tries to absorb and access the stored water the cactus can have. In this project, I ironically play with summery ideas as freshness, thirst, party and swimming with clear references to the traditional still life and a contemporary approach to composition and color. This artwork is part of the Heat Wave series.
