This shoot was in the Australian bush. I was interested in seeing movement from below with the sky as background. There were many images with which I was most pleased! Contact us.Tony Potts is an internationally recognised fashion and fine art photographer based in Sydney, Australia, whose career spans more than four decades. Working extensively across London, Paris, Milan, New York, Los Angeles and throughout South-East Asia, Potts has built a substantial photographic archive that reflects a refined engagement with fashion, sensuality and cultural identity.
Born into a family deeply embedded in the history of visual culture, Potts’ photographic sensibility was shaped early. His mother, Judy Barraclough, is widely regarded as Australia’s first supermodel, while his uncle, David Potts, was among the country’s most significant post-war photojournalists, with work exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. His brother, Dr Timothy Potts, Director of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, has previously served as Director of the National Gallery of Victoria, the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, and the Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge.
Potts is best known for his black and white photography, including nudes, fashion editorials, and a long-running body of work documenting Sydney’s Bondi Beach — now regarded as an important visual record of Australian beach culture. His photographs have been exhibited in galleries and art fairs internationally and are held in significant private collections in Australia, Europe and the United States.
