Menno Aden (b. 1972) shows a sensitivity for architecture, spaces and perspectives. People are rarely to be seen in his works. And yet there are traces to be discovered that people have left behind. By depicting artificial, ordered and unorganized structures, Aden's photographic works are indirect portraits of people. The perspective from far above (or below) is not a coincidence, but a technique that Aden has refined and developed over the years. A technique that derives from the original word "téchne" - the practical knowledge that enables foresighted calculation and purposeful action.
