Waiting in the afghan dust - Limited Edition 1 of 15 Photograph

Waiting for the legendary national hero of Afghanistan: Achmed Shah Massud. For days his arrival in the small northern Afghan town of Hodsha Bau Din had been announced and whenever a helicopter was approaching, it could mean the arrival of Massud. But also this time he was not there. While the helicopter took off again, a lot of dust was stirred up - a woman veiled in a burka and another woman with a veil were sitting in the middle of the dust cloud when I took this photo. Days later I had the opportunity to meet Massud and accompany him for a few days. A few months later, he fell victim to an attack by fundamentalist Islamists who carried out a suicide bombing on behalf of Al Quaida and the Taliban.
