Previously it belonged to the order Ciconiiformes. Traditionally all species were included in the genus Phoenicopteruss, but today the Andean flamingo and James's flamingo are considered a separate genus, Phoenicoparrus, because of certain differences in the beak, and the lesser flamingo has also been included in its own genus, Phoeniconaias. They are wading birds, with a curved beak, measuring between 90 and 150 cm. Their color comes from a diet rich in carotenes, which are pigments that they obtain from algae and shrimp, for example.

The commonplace is usually left aside, it is not given due attention. Sounds are ignored, smells are sometimes unpleasant and uncomfortable, and are therefore also ignored.
