Montreal based visual artist Nadine H. Nadine creates digital photo based abstractions inspired by the urban environment.

Through a simple digital iterative process each photograph is reconfigured into a grid creating an abstraction of the original image. Through this process, formerly concrete details are left ambiguous, compelling the viewer to inspect each structure more intimately in an attempt to identify its context.

Colour, architectural details, design elements, and composition combine to create an emotional response in the viewer, but the reality of the subject matter remains intact, albeit ambiguously.

By reinterpreting the urban landscape, I create an interplay of shapes and colours into dynamic abstracted patterned forms that do not exist in reality but rather exist as sensory experiences.

Each piece can be installed horizontally or vertically, individually or by combining a series of identical or varying images together. Installing the work in multiples, creates an open evolution of dialogue between each piece, further enhancing their inherent optical structures, and geometric patterns, creating new levels of detail and abstraction through repetition.

Each piece is printed in plexiglass, mounted on a wood frame, in multiples of eight, signed and dated by the artist
and can range in size from
6ft 'x 2ft', 3ft' x 4ft', and 35"x 24" depending on the image.
