ELIS / alis la luna - is more than just a contemporary art practitioner, she is an anthropologist of marginal beauty. Her Soviet origins and artistic philosophy (as well as metamodern views) prompt the artist to question and challenge the modern understanding of herself, culture and identity. Her art practice is about authenticity and freedom, about imperfection and the passage of time, about life and death, about sex and bodies. Using a varied range of media (collage, photography, poetry, video art, performance), Elis explores different concepts of the modern world. Her art is to be appreciated by an attentive and observant contemporary viewer who is not afraid of emotions and to look closer. ELIS / alis la luna is a multi(inter)disciplinary Kyiv artist-researcher. 1988 Born in Kyiv 2006 Graduated from Kyiv International School 2006 - 2007 FA Diploma in Art and Design, University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, UK 2007 – 2010 BA (Hons) in Contemporary Photographic Practice, University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, UK 2010 moved to London 2011 moved back to Kyiv Elis has participated in many exhibitions and festivals of various levels of complexity, both in Ukraine and abroad. Founder of the Kyiv Collage Practice group and метаCOLLAж (visual artbook-magazine about multidisciplinary collage mentality/culture in the world). Part of the art community at the Kyiv Institute of Automation (june 2019- today). Her artworks are in private collections in Germany, Great Britain, Spain, USA and Ukraine.
