This piece is part of The Pont-Rouge Portrait Project. The series of 7 large portraits of Haitian earthquake survivors are based off the work of award-winning photographer Q. Sakamaki. In 2010 Q. and I collaborated on an exhibit and auction benefitting rebuilding efforts in Haiti. At the time this portrait was created, 30 year old Apollon Ralpho was staying in a makeshift shelter with six other family members at the Pont-Rouge refugee camp outside of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He lost his uncle in the January 12th, 2010 earthquake. Artwork details: Woodcut print on Kozuke White 44g Japanese Paper Image: 64" x 28" Paper: 70.75" x 35"
