C-19 Health over Wealth - 8 images A multi image print, printed area measures 30x30cm approx: the images form my response to the corona virus pandemic and the British government’s response to the global pandemic. It forms a visual representation of the effect of the virus on the population of England, and me, from March 2020. I couldn’t make anything initially, frightened of the potential monsters in my studio and dark imaginings – then the linguistic and visual ‘aids’ of the pandemic generated this series of prints: seeing myself as a strange amorphous stick person – an economic unit rather than an individual – with huge concern about putting health over wealth. By March 25th 2020 – it was almost impossible to buy a pack of toilet paper – people panicked and emptied supermarkets, globally. Humour is essential in these peculiar times, toilet paper, and the spiraling forms are connecting theme in all my work. A whole new vocabulary was adopted - lockdown, self-isolate, 2m rule – social distancing, these became info graphics and my print was concieved.
