ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"This contemporary print "Floralies" is composed of white on black graphic signs and was inspired by my garden. I tried to retranscribe in this painting the different "vegetal lightnesses" crossing each other, intertwining. The forms interact with each other, forming a flexible and moving whole. " Print in black, white and gold. Wood engraving, xylography. Limited edition of 15 copies. The original work is printed on a quality paper. Dimensions : 30 cm x 40 cm.

Christine Guichard creates abstract works on paper in which she plays with the paper's luminous whites and intense blacks. She explores materials and shapes, the balance between them, and visible and invisible links. Christine Guichard is a printmaker and painter who graduated in graphic art from the Académie Charpentier in Paris. The visual intensity of her prints lies in the strong contrasts she creates between the deep blacks and bright whites of the paper. She explores the possibilities of printmaking in a highly graphic style, combining shapes and motifs to define a space in balance or movement. Contrasts are intense and the paper is not simply printed, but sculpted with discreet relief. The addition of these subtle embossments creates a world imbued with poetry. Christine Guichard's minimalist abstract art Through her prints and inks, Christine Guichard also explores an abstract minimalist aesthetic reminiscent of Japanese culture, a constant search between full and empty. The empty spaces magnify the composition of large black shapes, while the hollows of the embossing punctuate the works with their delicacy. These little worlds in relief gradually reveal themselves under the effect of low-angled light, and these works question the relationship between the visible and the invisible. In some prints, a glimmer of gold subtly shines through. The artist adds golden touches by applying gold leaf gilding. These shimmering reflections, combined with the elegance of the black shapes, create a fascinating visual effect. Like nuggets, they illuminate abstract imaginary landscapes. The viewer is transported into a plant or mineral world. Her etching and embossing prints are one-offs or limited editions, and always printed on top-quality 100% cotton, pH-neutral paper. Alongside her printmaking work, we can admire her paintings in black Indian ink. Her research focuses on the fluidity of the ink and the spontaneity of the gesture. A symbiosis created by the alliance between water and ink. A mastery of the trace between calligraphy and the art of Japanese sumi-e to create poetic works. Christine Guichard transports us into her expressive imaginary landscapes. 100% cotton and PH neutral.
