ABOUT THE ARTWORK

At 66, at the year 2016, I had the idea to draw an emoticon to express my daily impressions. Years before on a trip to Hong Kong, I bought a ladybird made of bronze enamel, which later served as a model for me. I first drew the ladybugs, but soon realized that I wanted more and made an Adobe Illustrator course for emoticons. Today, for me, the ladybug is the medium to express my thoughts and experiences of everyday life and their society through the emoticons.
HappyTottii edition about “Love” wants to animate the viewer to rethink the way of life. My passion is watching people how they behave and what they do. This is my inspiration for HappyTottii, and everyone can find themselves on one of the 1300+ emojis, and I am planning to expand to 3000.
2018 I moved away from purely on-line emoticons and started the HappyTottii “Art Series”. In my first series “Love” I would like to bring LOVE closer to the audience. But you also can combine with another picture and make your own story! HappyTottii is the perfect one to do. Every image is drawn with Adobe Illustrator, processed manually after printing. Colors do not look total the same like they are in nature.

Doris Taussig was born in Vienna / Austria in 1950, has two daughters and currently lives in Larnaca/Cyprus. In 1968, during a lengthy stay, she attended a public art school in New York and studied nude drawing and watercolor techniques. In 1982 she returned to painting and studied nude drawing and oil painting at the Vienna Art School.
