An original handmade screenprint with pencil. . edition of 30 . sold unframed On finest quality Fabriano 100% cotton paper (285gsm) with a deckled edge. Signed, numbered, titled and dated in pencil at the bottom Title: 'Meal Hill' Paper size: 76 x 56cm Image size: 50 x 37cm This latest print has nine layers of ink and six separate sections of hand coloured pencil work. It will be exhibited very shortly at The Zillah Bell Gallery in Thisk as part of my solo exhibition 'Piecing The Landscape' All my prints are created entirely by hand, from the initial drawings, mixing of the inks, to the actual pulling of the ink across the silk screen onto finest quality paper. Every colour and stencil is applied separately making a truely handmade piece of work. I like to work around repetition, forming patterns, and also using some hand drawn textures to add interest. This print forms part of my recent landscape work and taken from the patchwork of fields surrounding my home and studio. All of my prints are original artworks in their own right and over time should increase in value. This is different to 'Limited edition giclee' prints which are reproductions (inkjet prints from a computer) and not originals. Emma Lawrenson is a British printmaker. She lives and works from her farmhouse studio in the Yorkshire countryside. After studying for an M.A in printmaking at the Royal College of Art in London, Emma describes it as an experience that has shaped her life ever since. She has gone on to exhibit and sell her work all over the world. The techniques and formal qualities of printmaking have always fascinated Emma, and her work is an engagement with the process, where she is passionate about craftsmanship. ‘The process of screen printing and the time it takes to build up a final image is what holds the beauty of a piece; it’s a fundamental part of its soul. My prints may look ‘designed’, but are often rather intuitively and organically made. It’s a nice way to work, capturing a moment; a feeling I have at the time and just going with it.’ Emma’s work ultimately emerges by intuition, her style is minimal and peaceful, and she is passionate about colour, which is always very carefully considered. She loves walking, photography and travel; where anything from the smallest shape, shadow, pattern, texture or colour can trigger an idea. ‘I strive to create something beautiful and understated in my work, and I have always been drawn to work that feels calm’. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her work has appeared in many magazines including ‘Vogue’, ‘House and Gardens’, ‘Art Review’, ‘Country Living’, ’25 Beautiful Homes’ amongst others. She has even had work on film and television sets in America with Universal Studios.
