Left part of a diptych – ready-made items (part of a logwood, brim of an old leather hat and a piece of metal used in carpentry) not or just slightly altered, have been hand printed in the technique of gravure/intaglio where the deep parts carry the printable ink. This image talks about the endless desert of our universe. You may discover the milky way, with brighter stars in the forefront as well as one of the countless dead planets. The colour choice of the printing paper is as well an expression of an endless lifeless desert and of planets with no signs of life. This print is significant for its minimalist content in which it relates, initially to the right part of the diptych to which it belongs, and as well to an artwork created seven years later; 'Oa51s_homageCYF' to be found on top of this webpage. One of the connecting points between the two works might be seen in it's approach of 'nothingness' - another very interesting difference might come in this sentence, quoting 'Oa51s_homageCYF': "...spiralling through an awe-inspiring void which equally is a vital part of our spacious home." Find the complete diptych presently on offer - listed further above under "Samuel's December Offer". For the sake of open edition prints / better visibility the virtual image is placed upon a mat that appears in bright white. Just in the photo the edges have been cut straight; the real print is done on a high quality deckle-edged printing paper, therefore slightly larger than in the photo. It's a seven piece limited edition, this is #2.

London-based artist works with found objects, printed ready-mades as well as wood and bronze sculptures. Samuel Buttner exhibits internationally, has received awards and commissions for art in public spaces, and his work is held in both private and public collections. 'Remembering how my drawings as an eight-year-old received much attention, then opportunities for training during my teenage years leading to an education of professional wood sculptor. During my mid-twenties that enigmatic pull into social work with creativity for children and engagement in the special educational needs sector. The sculptor, printmaker and conceptual artist is grounded in life drawing, anatomical studies, and plein air painting. Much of the above would befriend me with Vincent van Gogh, valuing that eye-brain-hand-coordination for authentic, ecstatic expressiveness. Being equally aware how the subconscious gets visualized where it has been said that positive stimuli is evident as well as an artist philosopher, hence resonating with the like Marcel Duchamp exploring that limitless creativity-of-the-mind; that which is outside the box.'
