ABOUT THE ARTWORK
As I've grown older I've learnt to really appreciate my women friends and colleagues: their kindness and strength. When with recent events so many women around the world came together to march against what they felt was wrong - I was moved. Hopefully my take on events and my artworks are gently humorous. To create my series, I painted faces with expressive brush strokes and then blotted them whilst still wet - making a rough almost stencilled mark. This combined with stencil work and pastels gives a texture to the finished work. The edition is varied. I find it difficult to keep printing the same thing. Creativity comes from having a low boredom threshold.

I am a contemporary British painter and printmaker. My work is an expressive response to place, people and memory. I use a variety of media and techniques from oils and collage to silkscreen. My colourful acrylic monotypes are painted directly through the back of a screen and display a luminous energy and vibrancy. Figurative work starts with life drawing and painting. I use the figure as an abstract form, placed within the whole to form a design. I’ve been told that my work is full of colour and joy. I love this but I also aim to bring a freshness and to convey, life, energy and optimism. I was born in London and studied art and design at Canterbury College of Art. Following a career as an advertising agency art director I now paint from my London studio.
