ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This original monotype (a printmaking process that creates one unique print) was one of a series I have been working on that pays homage to environmentally-challenged regions of the planet. Ashokan happens to be my home, a beautiful region of Upstate NY that has a history of having removed an entire population by eminent domain in order to create the Ashokan reservoir. This abstract piece uses some of the colors that informed the large painting in the series, and expresses the dynamic forces that bear their effect today.
