2D Sculpture Experiment Sculpture

The inspiration for all my work is the amazing glass that is available and how it can be used for people to see its beauty inside and outside. The way it changes appearances in different light conditions and angles of viewing fascinates me. The inspiration for this particular work was a piece of glass arriving in the post, smashed into pieces. Rather than cutting up the usable pieces, I used traditional leaded stained glass techniques to make it into an abstract picture to hang on a wall inside. The glass is opaque black with a highly reflective and variable iridescent surface. The light and what is in front of it are more important than the layout of the leads. It changes constantly during the day. It has marine grade stainless steel rods in the outer edge of the lead and a strengthening bar is soldered across the back so that it can be simply hung on a wall. It measures 16 inches (41cm) x 12.5 inches (32cm)
