Bantu knots in butter jade stone . This modern woman is proud of her roots, even though she lives in an urban set up, her style defines who she is. Her face is a bit tight because the hairstyle is recent, the knots are tight and her scalp has been stretched by the weaver's firm hand. She will do it over again because the pride and joy far surpasses the temporary physical pain she is experiencing.

Malawi
My name is Lawrence Heeraliyhu. I am a young artist who lives in Malawi but have strong connections with Zimbabwean Shona Sculpture. I grew up in a cultural set up whereby sculptors and other artists have been telling stories about our Southern African cultures and history through their work. With time as a young boy, I ended up learning to do some canvas painting but I didn't delve further into it. During my early University days , I came across a course called Cultural Anthropology which compelled me to start paying more close attention to various African cultures by observing various cultural tradition artifacts through the camera lens. I am a photographer who specialises and has a passion for stone sculpture. Taking pictures of stone sculpture is like telling a beautiful story of human history, struggles, inspiration, achievements and daily activities that people may take for granted. I feel connected to every unique piece of sculpture as if it had a life of its own. Even though its not literally a soul, it can touch our lives, spur us on and inspire us to develop positive vibes. It is my earnest goal to promote these talented artists, some are well known names and had their work exhibited across Europe, North America, South Africa and Australia. Others are upcoming and emerging artists but are exceptionally gifted in producing masterpieces.
