I studied the model pose, Gazing into one another, Human and Horse combined. I thought about a mirror. They merged into a shared timeline. I ask you, are they Wild or Tethered - part of a system? Domesticated and separate from true nature. As pastures turn to pavement, are we blinded by lights, unable to connect unless through Wi-Fi? Poem By Lydia Smith

Smith's work illustrates a dialogue between line and form. Creating geometry inside a physical and digital ecosystem. From Her hands to software to Her mind, and then back to Her hands, a dialogue starts to unfold. Her finished works are a balanced expression of this relationship. Their complex simplicity serves as a break of consciousness to the viewer. A stop and a pause. Throughout this dialogue, Her mind is imagining our future as beings, both our spiritual and Avatar selves. She believes sculpture is a physicality that grounds us between these two worlds. Sculpture commands space. It forces the air (real or immersive) to move and flow around it. Biography Lydia Smith, born in 1995, is a multi-disciplined Artist working with historical and contemporary processes to realise her works. Her studio is based in Trafalgar Square, Central London. Through her practice, she explores the theme of Human connection, which encompasses subtopics, including Ancient History, Technology, Science, and Spirituality. She uses the physical and digital landscape to create sculptures, paintings and digital Art. Working with the Ancient Material, Clay, She enters a flow state, allowing her concepts to express themselves subconsciously; once complete, using her unique method, her work metamorphoses into the digital realm. These pixilated forms inform the evolution of her process.
