About The Artwork
Developed in clay and mounted on welsh slate with driftwood this piece is meant to drive conflicting thoughts. The bear can look aggressive, protective or simply in the process of catching salmon from the river below. He has lost a tooth, an outcome from a fight with other bears as hunting and loss of habitat takes it's toll on his species. As with most of my animals, this is a creature both loved and hunted by humans (often both) so the the piece is intended to drive conflicting thoughts in the viewer.
