Black Rose - 2D Sculpture

A black rose surrounded by clear iridescent textured glass. The second of a series of three works using two types of completely different iridescent glass, smooth black opaque and textured clear iridescent. They were first shown at the 2016 Sandringham Flower Show where I used the same glass in sculptures for a show garden. It is wall mounted on three black wall fixings. These will be included together with a template showing where to make the holes in the wall and screws. Alternatively if the buyer prefers, I could solder on a loop at the top or loops on the back to hang it. It could be mounted inside or outside given it has been made with traditional leaded stained glass techniques and is therefore weatherproof. It is however far from being a traditional piece of stained glass. It is designed to be looked at rather than through! Being highly reflective it changes appearance with just slight changes in light conditions and the angle of viewing. The green leaves are in a unique opaque green glass with glitter in the surface. The clear glass picks up the colours from its surrounding. I've demonstrated this by taking pictures of it in different light conditions with different backgrounds. It looks at its best in ANY light conditions. I find all my stained glass takes on a life of its own, that always needs checking and can never be ignored. It is 9inches (23cm) in diameter. The three wall mountings are 0.6 inch (1.6cm) diameter and are 1.1 inches (2.8 cm) long, holding the spiral 0.7inches from the wall.
