Olya is a Russian-Hungarian contemporary artist working with textile processes, combining embroidery, fabric collage and organic paint washes to create calm, atmospheric compositions. Born in Novosibirsk, Russia, she received early training in art before continuing her professional education in design. After several years working outside the art field, Olya returned to her artistic practice in the late 2010s, developing a studio-based practice informed by research, material experimentation, and lived experience of migration. Olya lives and works in Budapest, Hungary. Her work often draws on themes of landscape, memory and belonging, expressed through layered threads and tactile surfaces. Through labor-intensive, repetitive gestures she approaches her practice as both a material language and a reflection on time, care and the embodied nature of making. Olya creates calm yet visually engaging works designed to bring a sense of atmosphere and quiet presence into interior spaces.
