About The Artwork

Blue is a sculpture of a wood pallet. This piece is for sale as well as prints of the pallet. I created Blue with the idea of wanting to beautify something that is dirty; something that is used daily to ship millions of supplies all over the world. They are in no way an object of beauty. I had the idea to find one and make it beautiful, draw people to something they aren't used to seeing as a beautiful piece of work. I began with sawing off the bottom of the pallet. I then spent about 20 hours sanding the top and inner parts. After this process, I stained the wood pallet, put a clear shine on top and then crushed up shards of glass and mirror to glue on the inside wood areas running perpendicular to the main wood pieces. This is the finalized piece, a sculpture that makes the viewers wonder...

I am a 26 year old living in downtown San Diego. I grew up in LA county and went to school at UC Berkeley. I went into college as a collegiate soccer player with hopes of playing professionally. That did not come to fruition, so I began to think about what else I was passionate about, and that answer was art! I was successful in the art program with a lot of features in UC Berkeley's Art Gallery, Kroeber Hall. I had the incredible opportunity to study under great artists like John McNamara, Brody Reiman, Craig Nagasawa, Indira Morre, Randy Hussong, and many more. Once graduating in 2015, I decided to move back down south where I could be warm again and afford my rent :) Since being in San Diego, I leased my own art studio and became a working artist and curator. In 2018, I produced and curated 2 large galas in San Diego's oldest most historical art building, The Brokers Building Gallery. Both galas featured between 10-20 local and international artists. I recently decided to take a leap and become an Art Consultant for National Geographic, this job I did not enjoy so I am working on building as an artist and pushing myself to create consistently again.
