Jeroen de Nijs is a Dutch artist based in Enschede. Before going to art school, he was already fascinated by the playfulness of the modernist artists around the 1920s-1940s who had this strong believe and desire to envision a better world. Besides art and design, he loves magic objects like charms, self inquiry and meditation. How it can create feelings of joy and get you into a special kind of state. More energized, yet light at heart. In his small collages and installations, he tried to refer to these states as some sort of Utopia. It was later that he realized that kinetic art objects like mobiles are perfect objects to represent and transmit these feelings of effortless joy and playfulness. A balanced play of shape, color, and movement in someone's home. He creates these mobiles in his studio with the pleasure of knowing that they will contribute to the soul of someone's interior.
