About The Artwork

Turning a bowl is much fun and I hope you enjoy. Wood is always changing because it is alive. I've found turning wood is a labor of love in trying to control something uncontrolable. The end result is the finale of a pissing match between me and and the laws of nature. This one is of canary wood, from Brazil, tones of yellows and oranges. I aquired this exotic wood for another project, but enjoyed the grain and color so much that I cut up the planks into squares, glued the squares together in laminate fashion with clamps, and then turned the newly formed bowl blanks. They are stunning! I kept the lines and curves simple to show off the grain and color. The natural coloring is beautiful and was brought out with a clear finish of Danish Oil.

Handy and creative. I build things that I want in my world and sculpture is a good label for what comes of that. I have worked in most mediums, but presently wood and metal preoccupied my time. I live in Southie, South Boston, MA and have a studio just south in Canton, MA
