About The Artwork

This small porcelain work of art is ideal to give or receive as a gift! Each sea snail is carefully shaped by hand and therefore unique. Fine porcelain clay makes it possible to work on a small scale and create very fine details. Surface of the snail is partly glazed with transparent glaze so as to emphasize the beautiful of porcelain. Then accents were added to the sculpture with 24k gold luster***. Artwork is fired at a high temperature, making it durable and moisture resistant. ***Gold luster is an overglaze meaning it is applied over the vitrified glazed piece and requires a third firing. Luster is made of particles of real gold suspended in a liquid medium, usually a pine oil resin. Is applied as a top layer and requires an additional firing at a high temperature. 24k Gold luster is made of 24k gold particles mixed with liquid medium. CERTIFICATE ARTWORK Each piece of art comes with a certificate confirming the authenticity of this piece of art. Each certificate has a unique production number. That number is unique per artificial snail and represents the order in which it was made. KEEPING ARTWORK CLEAN Clean your artwork without chemical cleaners. My advice is to use compressed air on a LOW setting or to dust with a feather. Be careful when cleaning so that it doesn't break.

COMMISSIONS Have you been inspired by my art, but that one sculpture you had in mind is not available or already sold? Do not hesitate to contact me. Together we can still make your wish come true. Commissioned art is always possible. STATEMENT As a sculptor, I am driven by my passion for nature and my commitment to creating art that reflects the beauty and wonder of the world around us. Using a 3D pen, I craft intricate sculptures inspired by the graceful forms of sea life and corals, as well as the artistry of the iconic Faberge style. In my work, I strive to capture the delicate details and fluid movements of the creatures and landscapes I depict, imbuing each piece with a sense of life and movement. To further my commitment to the environment, I utilize only eco-friendly materials such as PLA, as well as ceramics and porcelain, in the creation of my art. By combining my love for nature and my artistic skills, I aim to create sculptures that not only captivate the viewer, but also inspire a deeper appreciation for the beauty and diversity of our world. Whether crafted from gleaming PLA or hand-formed ceramics, my sculptures are a testament to my love of the natural world and my desire to bring that beauty to life. BIOGRAPHY I am Nina Avalon, born in 1981, and I am a Dutch-based sculptor who specializes in creating delicate art pieces using a 3D pen. At the age of 12, I started dancing and eventually reached the top of the Dutch Ballroom dance scene while simultaneously studying Graphic Design at the University of Rotterdam. Balancing my studies with my dance training was demanding, but I persevered and excelled in both endeavors. Despite my many dance titles and accomplishments, I felt that something was missing. For me, the ephemeral nature of dance did not fulfill my creative needs. It was about capturing a momentary feeling, but it could not be held or touched. After 20 years of a successful dance career, I decided to pursue other avenues for expression. I tried various forms of art, including photography and fine art drawing, before my husband gifted me a 3D pen for my birthday. At the time, 3D pen technology was relatively new, and few people knew how to use it. However, my persistence and creativity led me to develop my own unique style and technique, and I now use the 3D pen to express myself in a way that I find fulfilling.
