Art Description

Sculpture: Wood, Paint on Wood.

Chief is a mixed media wall sculpture. It is constructed of repurposed maple, oak and mahogany with enamel paint. Chief is a striking minimalist piece in the method of Frank Stella, Martin Puryear and Ellsworth Kelly. The composition, form and colors take main stage, rather than a concrete subject matter. I strive to make minimalist wall sculptures that can command a space, without being overly expressive. While reserved, the architectural form of the piece in three dimensions adds to the interest, as it resides on the wall. I created the color palette to reflect a mod-century modern or danish modern feel. Clean and smile with enough interest in the shape and color to become a focal point on any room.
