Pierre Riche is an award-winning American sculptor who creates welded metal sculpture and wall-mounted relief works in bronze, stainless steel, and reclaimed metals. His work is known for its expressive construction, refined industrial language, and strong sense of movement and presence. After establishing an early career exhibiting large-scale metal sculpture nationally and internationally, Riche’s practice shifted around 2000 toward equestrian subject matter. Since then, the horse has become the central focus of his work, serving as a vehicle for exploring motion, strength, psychology, and archetypal form. Equestrian sculpture is now the core of his studio practice. Riche has exhibited for over three decades in juried exhibitions, public installations, and cultural venues, including the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles, Burning Man, and major sculpture exhibitions throughout California and New York. His work has received multiple honors, including Best in Show and Purchase Awards from juried exhibitions and art consultants, and is held in private collections. In addition to his studio practice, Riche has contributed to the arts community as an educator and curator, teaching metal sculpture and participating in artist-run institutions and artist colonies across the United States. He studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League of New York, and currently lives and works in California.
