About The Artwork

In his most recent series of works, Dennis transforms his compositions into three-dimensional pieces by using wood as both a source of inspiration and a material. The straight lines and planes create a contrast with the organic lines naturally present in the piece of wood. Dennis therefore sublimates the irregularity and singularity of each piece of wood, creating a very unique artwork that can be looked at from a variety of different angles. An offset yet powerful balance arises from his art, as depth and textures bring contrast and movement to the composition.

Rhythm. Light. Colours. Shadows. Balance. Since I started as a self-taught artist more than twenty years ago, these words have always been at the centre of my creative work and approach. In my most recent series of works, wood is used both as a source of inspiration and as a material. In these three-dimensional compositions, the straight lines and planes create a contrast with the organic rings naturally present in the piece of wood. As I strive to sublimate the irregularity and singularity of each piece of wood, these unique artworks can be looked at from a variety of different angles. Depth and textures brings movement to the composition and contrasts with the straight and colourful lines - an offset yet powerful balance arises. I strive to create multi-dimensional artworks in which light and shadows interact with colours, lines and textures. This reveals a movement and rhythm that the spectator can only perceive when interacting and moving around the work, therefore directly experiencing its meaning.
