About The Artwork

The middle of the circle is cut and torn in the shape of a cross. This represents the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. The circle's edge is pierced through by industrial nails which gives an other connection to Jesus, namely the crown of thorns. The clean cut gives a clear negative space which is in contrast with the rusted and rough surfaces. This symbolises the contrast between the purity of the Christ and the sin of mankind.
