About The Artwork

Eddy is part of uckiood's I'MPERFECT series of sculptures. I’MPERFECT continues the conceptual story arc established in uckiood’s previous Odd Jelly Out sculpture series. OJO has now found his/her tribe of individuals, misfits and eccentrics. The imperfect have become perfect by virtue of their uniqueness and peculiarities - now is the time to take joyous ownership of one’s outsider status. Together the sculptures form a proud and distinctive group of characters that, through their tantalizing textures, shimmering light play and captivating palette, invite personal/emotional connection and physical/sensory experience.

Founded in 2011, uckiood is the studio of married Swedish-American and British artists, Kim Rask and Missy Douglas. Missy is a former tutor of art history and fine art, holding a B.A. (Hons), M.A. and Ph.D in History of Art from the University of Cambridge, UK. Kim is an alumnus of the University of Washington with a background in animation, sound and design. With initial bases in Brussels, Belgium and New York City, they immediately made a profound impact with their striking, bold - and often divisive - portfolio. They now work out of their Seattle studio, creating mixed-media sculpture and installations. Their current work utilizes the visual language of childhood to explore the concept of outsiderness/otherness. They have exhibited across the US and Europe in both solo and group shows and their work has been selected for long-term and permanent public art placement. They have secured a wide range of festival and large event contracts, and have worked with government bodies, non-profit organisations and prominent corporate clients such as Facebook and Amazon. Their award-nominated work is held in high-profile, private and corporate collections across the world, and has been featured in major news and culture/lifestyle publications such as BBC World News & Radio, The Independent (UK), Vogue (NL), designboom, My Modern Met, Psychology Today, Shanghai Daily, The Stranger, and Athens Voice, as well as being the subject of a 2018 webMD documentary and a 2021 Shine News podcast. Awards & Honors: 2023. Juror’s Award,10 x Tieton, Tieton WA 2022. Honoraria Artist Award, Burning Man Project 2015. UK GDST Alumna of the Year Award (Nomination) 2014. US National Council of Behavioral Health Award of Excellence (Nomination)
