About The Artwork

"Femme Forma" is a sculpture that delves into the complexities and negative connotations surrounding body image. This artwork focuses on the female body, from head to stomach, divided into four distinct parts, each painted in different pastel tones. The artwork is out of sturdy polyester resin and fiberglass. Through its fragmented composition, "Femme Forma" challenges the unattainable standards of beauty imposed by society. The use of pastel colors represents the subtle nuances of perception, while the division lines, accented with red glitter, symbolize the inherent pressures and limitations that shape our understanding of the body. The head, painted in a blue hue, serves as a metaphor for the internal struggles and emotions associated with body image. Adding a layer of introspection, the girl's eyes are covered with delicate orchid flowers, drawing attention to the disconnect between personal identity and societal expectations. Orchids, symbolizing rare beauty and strength, serve as a reminder of the unattainable ideals often imposed upon individuals. The artwork encourages viewers to challenge the harmful narratives surrounding beauty standards and foster a more compassionate and inclusive understanding of the diverse realities of femininity. Designed for wall hanging.

Nikola Emma always dwelt on a variety of creative expressions, making artwork a clear choice for her. From the study of ceramics to the design of wooden toys, she went to study sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, a field in which she feels she could finally fully realize herself. Her body of work is full of surreal often anthropomorphic figures, sometimes grotesque, emotional and other times macabre. Creation often stems from literature, her inner world, and from her amateur interest in psychoanalysis. Relationships, intimacy, and the effort to capture what's happening within a person are the topics Nikola Emma is working with over the past few years. Artwork often has a therapeutic form in her case. She has exhibited in various places in the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Belgium, and Australia.
