Fertility Headdress and Amulet Sculpture

'Traditionally masks and headdresses were not simply about disguise, but instigated a transformation of one being into another. The wearer of the mask or headdress took on the spirit of the character represented and acted accordingly. In this case the wearer, who was almost always female, took on the spirit of the rabbit, seeking to increase her sexual potency. The regalia played a key role in premarital rituals for adult females, but was also worn on other occasions where females wanted ot increase their libido and attract partners.' A cultural Artefact of great anthropological significance, taken from the ruins of a once-great civilisation, which thrived at the turn of the 3rd Milenium AD, this Fertility headdress and Amulet have been placed in a museum vitrine by a fictional archeologist from the year 3022, in an effort to understand the practices and beliefs of its people. The hand-carved Ceremonial objects, hand carved from wood and inlaid with gold leaf were highly prized and were worn during yearly fetivals celebrating rebirth and fertility.
