I have always been captivated by the forms of trees- gnarled and twisted. I would often lose track of time while gazing at those unusual masterpieces of nature. Mundane yet supra mundane, the trees would transport me to an unknown world. Besides the beautiful form and interesting texture, what really intrigued me was the flux in the trees. I wondered how something as solid as wood could have a wave like form.
To me, the trees looked as if a finite portion of the infinite universal flow has been frozen in space and time.
This is exactly what I have tried to represent in this work ‘THE FROZEN FLUX’. I really love the way the branch vanishes into thin air at both of the ends. It creates a mystical feeling, as if an invisible force is acting on the branch. It also shows continuity of existence and connectedness of life forms to the infinite universal waves. Interestingly, in my childhood, I used to think that some great magician had used his powers to freeze the waves of the universe. I still wonder who is behind this creation, don’t you?
