Combining the concept of planetoid and granite, this piece was constructed by shaping slabs of granite into rough circle shapes then epoxying them together into a spherical shape. Mounted on a turning pin so it can freely turn, it mimics the appearance of Jupiter seen through a telescope.

My favorite creations are defined by balance and negative space. Opening a stone to see inside, exposing a surface that's been hidden since the beginning of time, revealing a hidden view of the universe, are the things that excite me. I share my excitement by carving the stone into an asbstract shape that balances delicately at an impossible angle to force the viewer to reexamine their assumptions about the physical world.
