About The Artwork
Abstract table sculpture entitled 'Jans Garden.' A response to my friend Jan's small garden and her individuality of planting. Jan is a long time member of the Royal Horticultural Society and her little garden reflects her love of plants. Although her planting is very dense the plants mix and mingle throughout the plot, each plant finding their own place. For the sculpture I chose steel which was galvanised after welding. The materials and finish being appropriate for outdoor display. My signature is etched on leg.

Born in Yorkshire in 1947. Travel has greatly influenced my outlook, interests, style and techniques. My background includes experience of furniture making, engineering and technology. My early working life included building timber houses in Denmark. As a young adult I went to university and became a teacher of Art, Technology and Art History teaching at Clifton College Bristol, Shebbear College Devon and the Royal School Bath where Was appointed head of Art, Design and Technology. Being interested in community projects I became Co founder of the St Pauls Carnival Bristol and the Sofa Project. Currently I live and work in Dursley England. In addition to developing my creativity I founded a local Art History group. Just completed a large community project which is being exhibited at a local church here in Dursley specially for Easter. It's called 'Everything is connected to everything.'
