Jezebel Sculpture

This biblical character has always intrigued me and this is my representation of Jezebel. Very often there have been controversies while describing her character - bloodstained yet strong-willed, courageous and of political astute. With its intrigue, sex, cruelty, and murder, Jezebel's story is a rich stew of the historical events and allegorical interpretation. Despite of various interpretations, one conclusion remains - her end was tragic. She paid the price for her actions, thrown from a high window, her unattended body devoured by dogs. Even with such a dark story, I was able to depict the expression of her anxious yet hopeful kohled eyes, in anticipation of winning her last act. The 2 snakes around her head and neck depict a vile streak in her personality. This one of a kind piece is very intricately crafted and made primarily of mosaic and mixed media. It has been a very long journey to bring it to the perfection it stands at. It will captivate any audience in seconds. Substrate used : wood Framed Piece. For indoor display only.
