L'homme lombric est une sculpture réalisée en albâtre, travaillée en taille directe. Une des nombreuses différences entre l'homme et l'animal est le regard, la place de ses yeux. Contact us.TomSturm, a contemporary French sculptor according to official calendars, began his career in another dimension: graphic design, where he tamed recalcitrant pixels behind the luminous glass of a screen.
But very quickly—in a matter of seconds, according to some—the virtual world showed its limitations. Too smooth, too tame, too digital.
So matter manifested itself. Stone, in particular. Heavy, silent, obstinate. A gravitational revelation. Sculpting stone became not only an obvious choice, but a serious hypothesis about the meaning of existence. Working directly (without a net or an “undo” button), TomSturm pursues simplicity of form, unstable balance of lines, and a slightly twisted humanity, embellished with discreet but geologically grounded humor.
His sculptures do not represent the world: they offer a parallel hypothesis, scientifically unverifiable. Each work is a silent dialogue between the hand, the stone, and a slightly offbeat logic. The gesture remains free, sometimes useless, and therefore fundamental. Through his sculptures, TomSturm wishes to convey the pleasure—a highly subjective notion—he experienced in creating them, with the reasonable hope that they will move you, or at the very least, elicit an inexplicable smile.
