Description: I coined a term called Loss Longing and desire. This first series is personal and mostly biographical. It is about emotions. These emotions are the experiences of life that create feelings that are not easily seen but you can feel them. I use the human form as a vessel of expressions. The human form is exaggerated which indicate the level of intensity. Each experience is different. The surface is dark, yet beneath the surface lay undertones that provide a psychological narrative. The obvious appearance of creases, wrinkles, folds and bony areas reference to the duration. The way by which the form is may indicate past or present thoughts. The bald head/ nudity represent an openness to explore without shame- giving one self-permission to be free and vulnerable. As an expressionist artist, I work intuitive and with clay. My work suggests to the viewers a possibility to see a reflection that with hope for clarity.

Marjae L. Gilbert coined a term called Loss Longing and Desire or LLD that express emotions beneath the surface. The emotions are deep within and only you can feel them. Since, my work continues to evolve. No matter the series, I tend to explore the dark places with hope to heighten one’s awareness and sensitivity to pain and suffering in humanity.
