Christoph Robausch prefers the recycled material aluminum in material thicknesses and degrees of softness that enable him to process the material by hand. The dynamic transitions from the deformed surface to the spatial body result in unusual shapes with organic structures. Through further manual acts of compression and processing with the finest abrasive fleece, the initially superficial color gradients made of waterproof, lightfast ink are worked deeper into the metal again. His idiosyncratic way of working gives his works a mysterious, timeless aura. Video about "Magma Sphere" on the artist's website >> The sculpture weighs 14 kg and can also be set up outdoors. The aluminum shell is corrosion-resistant, the inner core consists of a very stable, load-bearing structure that is waterproof. The intensity of the colors will diminish over time with strong sunlight and, depending on the location, a charming natural patina will form.

Robausch's wall-objects and freestanding sculptures are built with manually formed aluminum. Every single step in the creative process are made by hand which gives his artworks timeless depth and a unique appeal. Most of his sculptures have a lightweight, stable supporting core enclosed by an aluminum shell. The aluminum surface of his new artworks is painted with iron pigments and is encouraged to rust.
