Jean Luc graduated in 1977 as an architect from L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris,France, and Minouche had been working for advertising agencies designing sets for print and TV commercials.

The work of 1178designs has been featured in New York Magazine, New York Times, Daily News, Casa Vogue, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, ABC news, Scottish TV and many other publications.

In 1997 they received an award for "excellence in design" from Metropolitan Home Magazine.
Glass Master Guild awarded them 1st prize at their 4th annual Art Glass Competition.
in 2014 they received first prize at the Washington art fair in NYC and in 2015 "best of show" at the same art fair.
