I fell in love with clay from the first time I sunk my hands in it. Working in ceramics is a blending of physical and emotional elements while feeling the restorative characteristics of clay. I find working in clay rewarding and challenging as each piece develops with subtle differences in form and design. The process may be one of starting with an idea in mind, or at other times just diving in and seeing what the process teaches me. As a young artist in my twenties, The Clay House studio and gallery in Los Angeles became my second home. After working my day job as a CPA and financial advisor, I would spend my evenings at the studio and soon was asked by the artist/ owners to come on board as an instructor. My artistic career flourished and my work was exhibited in many galleries in Southern California, most notably the Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts in Los Angeles. It was while teaching classes at the Clay House that I met my future wife and mother of our three grown children. We moved to San Diego where I continue my career as a CPA and financial advisor, never giving up my love of clay. I was able to continue to explore my work in clay both as an artist and by participating in workshops around the country from experts in the field. I now have my own studio in Mission Hills and I can be found there still moved by the joy I have in creating unique artwork.
