Momentary Action No.1 - 2019 - Western Red Cedar and Wax Sculpture

Through the rustling of the autumn leaves, An acorn drops to the pavement with a knock. The focus of the walker is temporarily invited— So much else happening simultaneously on earth. Far away the cosmic winds grumble with laughter, As their massive gestures crunch through time and space. Silently staring at the serene sunset— Eyes fixed on the blended colours stroking the evening horizon. The glassy lake holds a swan— Its movement, temporariy paused as it transcends existence. ~Mike Sasaki 2019 The Red Cedar undulates contouring its fluid solidity—the growth ring pattern also serves to provide flow to the form. I hope this piece mystifies with its invitation to contemplate. It stands as metaphor for timeless action, the beauty of movement embedded in silence. I design forms for interior spaces, to create intrigue, dynamics and interest as a focal point for a chosen decor. With their 360 degree viewing, they can be rotated as desired. This piece sports a pulsing growth ring pattern on the back radiating from the leg.
