I started sketching in search of ways to depict the Dutch landscape. Almost automatically I sketch loops that together show the shape of a piece of land - seen from above. The divided pieces of land have an interesting shape, they almost resemble pattern pieces of a garment. I really wanted to convey the atmosphere of the sketch in a spatial form. I started experimenting with spatial forms of paper and clay, and positioned it in the exact same formation as my sketch. I first wanted to hang the shapes on the wall without a frame, but the material is too fragile for that. After a long search I came across this frame and it fits perfectly.
