About The Artwork
This copper basket is filled with copper fruit and is all handmade using only copper sheet metal and copper wire. The shape is formed through heating the metal and quickly quenching it in cold water to soften the metal and pounding it into shape, sort of cold forging. The fruit is made up of multiple pieces and brazed together with copper phosphorus rod, the heat source for brazing is oxy/acetylene. All fruit and basket are covered with multiple coats of clear lacquer to keep them from oxidizing PS- don't eat the fruit, you'll chip your teeth !
