Nuage de neige II Sculpture

This kinetic sculpture is inspired by the work of Alexander Calder, the American sculptor who is best known for his innovative mobiles. Through the years I have become particularly interested in kinetic sculptures and in creating gently moving graphical structures. Mobiles' appearance is always changing. They seem to have a life of their own and I find them fascinating to look at. As the mobile moves, the metallic shapes catch the ambient light in interesting ways. This piece is titled: “Nuages de neige II” which is French for Snow Clouds. Raised on the Eastern Coast of Canada, I spent my winters playing in the snow. One of my favorite things to do was lying in the snow and looking at the snowflakes falling from the sky, twirling and shining until they reached the ground. These happy memories were the inspiration for this piece. I recommend suspending it near a window where the mirrors can catch the sunshine and create moving reflections.
