Climate change, emissions and poverty inspire my work. I hope viewers see something fun, bold, unusual, provocative, beautiful and thought provoking. I chose car parts because they run on gas. We are a gas/oil dependent society and that was planned despite scientist knowing the dangers of emissions. Trains were done away with to ensure dependency on cars.

I used to be a figurative painter but recently decided I couldn’t continue making pretty pictures given what is going on in the world. It’s artists’ responsibility to reflect the times and speak out. Given the overproduction of things, I repurpose plastic car parts, sheet metal, etc., and regularly go to dumpsters. My work is about sustainability, consumerism, robots in industry (with resulting unemployment, inequality, poverty), and climate change, about a society that prioritizes profit with a total disregard for the environment and all life on Earth. The repurposed pieces are a tribute to people’s ingenuity, engineering feats, ability to imagine, design and build. I aim to provoke reflection/discussion about major social issues, to create with repurposed objects aesthetically stimulating, thought provoking, beautiful pieces that deal with serious, dire issues.
