Saima Kivi is based on a 3D scan of a stone I found in the snow in Finland in the depth of winter in 2015. At the time, I was involved in a research residency, where I worked with a team of engineers, researches and PHD students at Saima University ( the University specializes in technology) to explore the possibilities of high end industrial laser technology within the arts. I produced this work in 2 sizes, this is the large scale version in post box red. Out doors, it is placed on a marble plinth. Saima is the peninsular I found the stone, Kivi is Finnish for stone.
