About The Artwork

Mini Mistique is a horse who's name even suggests that it is mystical, mighty and magical. The sculpture is depicting a horses head in an unusual posture where the head is facing downward. The sculpture begins with a wooden base at the bottom and then continues upwards with the horses muzzle and then with the head where it's mane slowly disperses into empty space adding a mystical quality to the sculpture where the light plays and shows the sculpture going from realism to abstract. The base of the sculpture is a very old railroad track beam adding to it's mysticism.

Leya's creativity spans a vast variety of artistic fields from sculpting, photography, filmography to dance, graphic design and many more, therefore it is not surprising that her creativity began in her early childhood. She entered into the world of sculpting with a complacently innovative and individual approach since her sculptures are created from unconventional materials like fiber glass, different types of epoxy resins and even stone, teron, wood and different kinds of metal. With precise use of different kinds of pigmentation of bronze and copper she creates a special visual effect that is typical for art created from these very materials. With a meticulous treatment of the »patina« and additional shading the art work fills the space with it's presence. The theme and inspiration that Leya draws upon are usually from her own different creative fields. In turn the animalistic sculptures are a reflection of Leya's passion for photography of horses and other animals and the dance sculptures reflect Leya's passion for dancing. Leya has a very keen sense of how important the presentation of artwork is, so in turn all her sculptures are always set on very special and aesthetically important bases, created usually out of natural materials like treated or raw wood, stone or sometimes even handcrafted metals which even further emphasize her keen sense for aesthetics as well as her innovative sense when it comes to creating her sometimes abstract sculptures. Leya started her sculpting career with an exhibition in a gallery in down town Ljubljana soon after she had began sculpting her first sculptures. Soon after that came many more exhibitions in Slovenia, in places like the PopArt Gallery or Castle Ozeljan and soon the apparent artistic passion in her work brought her to exhibitions abroad in places like Vienna in the Slovenian Cultural Center Korotan, in Italy at the LuxArt Gallery, Croatia at Tuhely Spa Resort and even South Korea. Where her sculpture has been added to the Kangwon National University museum.
