ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This object is part of a series that I named SKELTON, I am a person inspired to the point of obsession by animal, vegetable and organic biologies, and especially by the functioning and anatomy of the mechanics hidden under the skin. My own body totally collapsed after a serious illness; Each sculpture, painting, engraving, silk-screen printing, is a kind of strong trace of the slow recovery to which I forced my muscles, each is an imprint of a stage, of a temporary state of strong and deep physical and mental work on a precise part of my body; At each stage, I will try to understand a precise part, its functioning, its anatomy and its blockages, then, I will learn new techniques to reactivate my body; Each one is like the step of a staircase or a podium towards the body freed and mastered again, then the appeasement, the balance found, each one carries the number of one of our vertebrae, each one in the increasing order of my re-ascension, my recovery The materials chosen are rigid like the disciplines I impose on myself and the strength I seek to regain, the balance-unbalance is a present and recurrent theme because it has become an obsession of daily life, a constant search. The colors have a preponderance of importance, they became tools and weapons to me to calm my diverted spirit, or will be simple witnesses of my sensitive state of the moment; I speak about muscle, cells, bones, blood, sweat and I speak about it in geometry and in color

“Art is my way of being more.” Senghor K is a gardener born in a forest, tirelessly curious about the infinitely small. The cells and phenomena of animals and plants, the architecture hidden in biology, the order and rhythms that create the symphonies of the living captivate him and always reconcile him. The gardens will be the place to learn and observe colour, the movements of cycles and the relationships of harmony, the subterranean music of things. He will observe and study empirically the curious mechanics of colours, their roles and effects on his body and then the flow of his thoughts, then sharpen this tool to gain his own balance. Paradoxically, it is an illness that will open up perspectives and give him the luxury of time to create his pictorial universe and give substance to his interest in physiology. Get up- reconstruction ERA: The backdrop from now on will be an obsession with getting his body moving and straightening, forgetting the old self, this journey of endurance and growth that will turn him into a happy drowning man. Like Zhang Huan, he firmly believes that transcendence can be achieved through endurance, every unfulfilled object will keep him awake. He will resculpt himself alive, rebuild himself upright, as much by the imprint of what has disappeared as by what has appeared. Even colour is a reaction: "Having become a simple observer of life at the moment when illness made me tired and slow, I am captivated by the magical echo of the slightest of our impulses, actions or words, on each other, a domino effect, a wave on water, that can sometimes be chaotic. I try to translate my naive and contemplative sensation of the powerful and perpetual "Corps à corps" with the world, our friction".
